Our center, in collaboration with the Women’s Affairs Committee, recently hosted a workshop titled “Types of Contemporary Violence Against Women and Ways to Address It.” Led by Assistant Professor Dr. Hana Hani Al-Saffar, Assistant Lecturer Noor Hussein Yousif, and Assistant Lecturer Khalida Ibrahim Hassoun, the workshop explored the pressing issue of violence against women. Key topics included:

  • Government Measures: The importance of government initiatives to prevent and address violence against women.
  • Protection Efforts: Strategies to safeguard survivors and their children.
  • Legal Action: Investigating and prosecuting perpetrators, and ensuring appropriate penalties.
  • Redress and Compensation: Providing support and resources to survivors.
  • Social Justice and Gender Equality: Promoting equality and challenging discrimination.

The workshop emphasized the need for a coordinated, multi-sectoral approach involving civil society, healthcare, law enforcement, and the justice system. It also highlighted the importance of international cooperation and adherence to human rights treaties to combat violence against women globally.
