As part of our center’s scientific activities, and with administrative support, the Workshops and Seminars Committee, in collaboration with the Women’s Affairs Committee, organized a workshop titled “Workshop on the Importance of Women in Occupying Leadership Positions” on Thursday, March 13, 2025. Moderated by Assistant Lecturer Ali Kamel Wannas, and organized by Assistant Professor Dr. Hana Hani Al-Saffar, this workshop aligns with the implementation of the Third National Plan for Women, Peace and Security – Pillar of Participation and Institutional Reform for 2025.

Assistant Lecturers Hiba Muhammad Jihad and Khalida Ibrahim Hassoun presented on the challenges facing women in leadership roles, despite advancements in the workplace. They highlighted the persistent low percentage of women in senior administrative positions, attributed to unequal representation and inadequate empowerment mechanisms. Iraq’s low global ranking in women’s political and economic participation was emphasized, citing unequal employment opportunities and limited decision-making influence. While progress has been made, obstacles still hinder women’s full participation in societal development.

The workshop’s objectives were to:

  • Highlight the crucial role and support of women’s leadership in community building.
  • Emphasize the importance of women’s participation in political and economic decision-making.
  • Identify women’s key skills and their potential for societal contributions.
