Continuing a commitment to scientific engagement, the Center for Research and Studies, under the guidance of Assistant Professor Dr. Hana Hani Al-Saffar, proudly participated in the sixth international scientific conference. Titled “Green Economy and Sustainable Development in the Middle East and Prospects for Achieving It,” the event was held by the Palm Environmental and Agricultural Organization in collaboration with Al-Sadr College, Al-Ahliyya University, and the Ministry of Agriculture from December 30-31, 2023.

Among the conference’s highlights was a unique visual artistic display curated by staff member, lecturer Waad Adnan Mahmoud. The exhibit showcased a powerful transformation: dismantled war remnants, from ammunition boxes to equipment, repurposed into stunning works of art. This poignant statement against war’s horrors aimed to reclaim beauty from destruction, demonstrating art’s power to challenge violence and embrace healing.

The exhibition’s core message resonated deeply: wars not only generate human suffering but also inflict lasting environmental damage and endanger health. Through transformative re-imagination, the artist offered a beacon of hope, urging us to build a sustainable future free from the burdens of conflict.

We extend our appreciation to the conference organizers and participants and echo the call for continued work toward a more peaceful and sustainable world.
