Workshop Highlights Women’s Health Concerns in Face of Pollution
As part of ongoing collaborations between university departments, a recent workshop explored the link between environmental pollution and its impact on women’s health. Organized by the University of Baghdad’s College of Nursing/Women’s Empowerment Unit and supported by Assist. Prof. Dr. Hana Hani Al-Saffar, Director of our Center, and Assistant lecturer Khalida Ibrahim Hassoun participated in the event held on February 18, 2024.
The workshop highlighted the alarming rise in environmental pollution and its documented impact on overall health, with a particular focus on its disproportionate effects on women. Recognizing this vulnerability, the session emphasized a set of recommendations aimed at treating, reducing, and ultimately limiting environmental pollutants in Iraq.
This collaborative effort underscores the university’s commitment to addressing critical public health issues and advocating for the well-being of all, particularly vulnerable populations like women. By fostering dialogue and seeking practical solutions, such joint initiatives can pave the way for a healthier and more sustainable future for all.
