The Department of Botany and Environment at the University of Baghdad, in collaboration with the Center Director and other university departments, hosted a scientific field trip for students from Al-Mustansiriya University on February 28th, 2024.
The trip, led by Assistant Lecturer Ali Kamel Wannas, included:
A lecture on collecting and preserving plant samples: This lecture provided students with a simplified overview of proper techniques for collecting and preserving plant specimens for further study.
A tour of the plant herbarium: Students explored the center’s plant herbarium, learning about the different types of specimens stored there and their various uses.
The aim of the field trip was to:
Foster scientific collaboration: This collaboration fostered interaction between the University of Baghdad and Al-Mustansiriya University, promoting interdisciplinary exchange.
Enhance student knowledge: Students gained valuable information about plant environments, including plant classification and the presence of various species in the Iraqi environment.
