On April 7, 2024, our center hosted a workshop titled “Women between Societal Reality and Technological Development” as part of our ongoing scientific events. The collaborative effort involved the Women’s Affairs Committee and the committee for workshops and seminars. Assistant Lecturers Noor Hussein Yousif and Hiba Muhammad Jihad presented the informative session.
The workshop focused on the evolving role of Iraqi women in technology.
Historical Exclusion: The lecture acknowledged the previous limitations placed on women’s education and participation in society, particularly in scientific and technological fields.
Progress and Opportunity: The discussion highlighted the positive shift in recent decades. Women are increasingly pursuing and achieving success in various technological fields.
Education and Support: The workshop emphasized the critical role of education, including government and university support programs, in creating opportunities for women to excel in technology and related fields. The University of Baghdad’s support for applied research was cited as a specific example.
Innovation and Achievement: The lecture celebrated the achievements of Iraqi women who have obtained patents, made inventions, and contributed to technological advancements.
The central theme was the comparison between the pre-2003 era and the present day. The workshop aimed to showcase the progress made in terms of educational access and women’s participation in technological fields.
The event concluded with a message of continued commitment from our center to serving society through scientific exploration and knowledge sharing.
