As part of our ongoing scientific activities, and with the guidance of Assistant Professor Dr. Hana Hani Al-Saffar and the workshop committee led by lecturer. Muhammad Anad Ghazaun, our center hosted a workshop titled “Recycling Waste to Reduce Its Impact on the Environment” on Sunday, April 28th, 2024.
Assistant lecturers Suhad Hamza Muhammad Ali and Mab Riad Sajet presented informative sessions on recycling. They explained the process of transforming used materials (waste) into new, usable products. The workshop highlighted the significant environmental benefits of recycling, including:
Reduced Consumption of Raw Materials: Recycling lessens our reliance on virgin resources, preserving natural habitats and resources.
Lower Energy Use: Recycling processes often require less energy compared to creating products from scratch.
Combating Pollution: Recycling helps minimize water and air pollution associated with traditional waste disposal methods.
Reduced Greenhouse Gas Emissions: By lowering energy consumption, recycling contributes to mitigating climate change.
The workshop also addressed recyclable materials such as textiles, rubber, aluminum, and paper. Ultimately, the aim was to raise awareness about the advantages of recycling and encourage its adoption as a widespread environmental practice. This will not only benefit individuals through reusing materials, but also contribute to a cleaner, healthier planet by reducing pollution and combating global warming.
We at the center remain dedicated to serving society, promoting scientific knowledge, and fostering a sustainable future.
