As part of a recent series on artistic expression, a lecture titled “Symbolism of the Iraqi Marshlands in Modern and Contemporary Iraqi Art” was held at our center on May 8th, 2024. The lecture was presented by Assistant Professor Mahmoud Abdul Rahman Hussein.

This session focused on the enduring significance of the marshlands in the works of modern and contemporary Iraqi artists. Professor Hussein delved into the symbolic meaning these marshlands hold for these artists, exploring how they represent the land, its culture, and its people.

The lecture followed a structured format, outlining the research problem, its importance, and its objectives. Professor Hussein also presented key findings, recommendations, and proposals.

Through such events, our center fosters a deeper appreciation for art and its role in reflecting our society.
