As part of our center’s ongoing scientific activities, and with the support of our administration, the Workshops and Seminars Committee, led by Assistant Professor Dr. Hana Hani Al-Saffar, organized a lecture on Thursday, October 31, 2024.
The lecture, titled “Cybersecurity: Its Importance and Types,” was delivered by Dr. Zainab Alwan Makkawi, Head of the Insects and Invertebrates Department. Dr. Makkawi explored the multifaceted nature of cybersecurity, highlighting its critical role in safeguarding digital assets and infrastructure. She emphasized the evolving landscape of cyber threats, driven by sophisticated hacking techniques. To mitigate these risks, she advocated for leveraging advanced technologies, such as artificial intelligence, to strengthen cybersecurity defenses.
The lecture aimed to enhance understanding of cybersecurity principles, its historical context, and practical applications. By addressing these topics, the center seeks to contribute to the development of a more secure digital environment for individuals and society as a whole.
