The herbarium includes about 50 species of Iraqi plants classified by the statistics of the Plant Department of the Ministry of Agriculture, as well as 1,800 specimens belonging to 451 genera in 87 families. The department was involved in studying rocks and fossils and displayed samples. It includes two sections, the first including rock and metal models and Iraqi and foreign excavations. The second section contained oil geology. The department also contains Iraqi and imported igneous rocks and samples of gold, silver, iron, copper, sulphur, carbon, graphite, etc.
