On Monday, February 10, 2025, the Iraq natural research center and museum ]’s Workshops and Seminars Committee, under the guidance of its administration and as part of its scientific activities, hosted a workshop titled “Embryonic Development of the Urinary System and its Tissues.” Assistant Professor Dr. Hana Hani Al-Saffar oversaw the event, which was managed by Assistant Lecturer Ali Kamel Wanas and presented by Assistant Lecturer Noor Hussein Yousif.<\/p>\n
The workshop explored embryonic development in living organisms, including its potential impact and the negative consequences that can lead to congenital malformations. A key focus was the development of the mammalian urinary system, emphasizing the importance of understanding its various developmental stages and the unique tissues involved.<\/p>\n
The lecture aimed to clarify the embryonic structures that precede the final adult form of the urinary system. These transient structures, which largely disappear before birth (with the exception of the ducts), include the Pronephros, Mesonephros, and Metanephros (for the kidney), as well as the Wolff’s duct and Muller’s duct (related to the reproductive system).<\/p>\n

The workshop concluded with several recommendations for future research and study:<\/p>\n
1-Utilize modern scientific methods to investigate embryonic development.
\n2-Identify and understand the causes of congenital deformities to mitigate their occurrence.

\n4-Investigate chemicals that may induce fetal deformities.
