Our center, with the support of its administration, continues its series of scientific activities. On Monday, February 10, 2025, the Workshops and Seminars Committee, led by Assistant Professor Dr. Hana Hani Al-Saffar, organized a workshop titled “Fungi that Infect Wild Plants.” Assistant Professor Ali Kamel Wanas managed the workshop, which was presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Khansa Rashid Majeed and Assistant Professor Lubna Hamid Majeed.<\/p>\n

The presenters discussed the importance of fungi in the environment, emphasizing their role in decomposition, nutrient recycling, and plant health. They explained that fungi can be both beneficial and harmful to plants. The workshop focused on identifying plant-infecting fungi, their various types, visible symptoms, and treatment methods. Fungal diseases pose a significant threat to plant health, reducing the productivity of agricultural land by stressing or killing plant cells. The workshop also covered the transmission of fungal infections through infected seeds, weeds, soil, water, wind, agricultural machinery, and animals. The importance of using effective and safe pesticides was highlighted.<\/p>\n
