The Natural History Research and Museum Center at the University of Baghdad, under the leadership of Assistant Professor Dr. Hanaa Hani Al-Saffar, organized a workshop titled “The Mental Health of Iraqi Women” on Monday, January 5, 2026. This event was held in collaboration with the Women’s Affairs Committee of our center. The workshop was facilitated by Assistant Lecturer Ali Kamel Wanas and featured presentations from Liaison Officer Khalida Ibrahim Hassoun, along with instructors Dr. Zainab Alwan Makawi and Assistant Lecturer Yasmin Sarmad Hassan.<\/p>\n
Mental health refers to a state of emotional and psychological well-being that enables women to understand their feelings, manage their emotions, and cope with the pressures of daily life effectively. It allows them to be productive and form healthy social relationships.<\/p>\n
The workshop aimed to highlight the significance of women’s mental health, the contemporary challenges they face, and potential strategies to address these issues. Recognizing that women are the cornerstone of the family, the workshop underscored how their psychological stability directly affects their children, husbands, and the broader community. When women maintain good mental health, they are better prepared to raise children, make informed decisions, and shoulder responsibilities effectively.<\/p>\n
