The Natural History Research and Museum Center at the University of Baghdad, with the support and guidance of the center’s director, Assistant Professor Dr. Hanaa Hani Al-Saffar, organized a scientific field trip to Wasit Governorate\/Al-Suwaira District on Friday, May 1, 2026. Insect, invertebrate, fish, amphibian, and wild plant specimens were collected, as the area is characterized by its rich biodiversity. The scientific team consisted of:

The scientific expedition aimed to fulfill the requirements of the research plan, provide the Iraqi team with biological models, and establish a database on biodiversity in Iraq. The expedition’s itinerary included a visit to Adnan Hadi Al-Hassouni’s farm to observe its experiments and to witness its strong scientific reputation, which stems from its promotion of agriculture and the use of environmentally friendly organic fertilizers. The farm also hosts researchers from all Iraqi universities to conduct research and studies in this field.<\/p>\n
The field survey was a success, thanks to the activation of fruitful cooperation with the private sector and the provision of facilities for the researchers. Furthermore, the objectives of this visit align with the activities of Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education), Goal 13 (Climate Action), Goal 15 (Life on Land), and Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).<\/p>\n
