A delegation from the Natural History Research Center and Museum met with the Director of the Scientific Affairs Department at the University of Baghdad. The meeting, organized by the Center’s Director, Assistant Professor Dr. Hanaa Hani Al-Saffar, and Lecturer Noor Hussein Yousef, took place on Monday, June 1, 2026, at the University of Baghdad’s Scientific Affairs Department. Professor Dr. Hussein Qasim Hussein, the Director of the Scientific Affairs Department, welcomed the delegation.<\/p>\n
During the meeting, several important topics were discussed, including the operational mechanisms of research centers within the university, the conduct of specialized scientific research, and the procedures for publishing in internationally indexed journals as part of the research plans for upcoming academic years.<\/p>\n
The meeting also addressed the postgraduate specializations needed by the Center’s staff in the coming years. Professor Dr. Hussein Qasim Hussein commended the Natural History Museum Journal for its significant focus on pure sciences. He praised the efforts of the journal’s editorial board and staff, highlighting its reputable standing within the Scopus Q3 index.<\/p>\n
The purpose of the visit was to establish communication between the Center and the University of Baghdad administration and to collaborate in overcoming the challenges facing the Center’s work. Additionally, the meeting aimed to enhance cooperation between the Center and the university’s departments, thereby strengthening expertise and improving museum operations through scientific publications, upgrading the exhibition hall, and enriching it with diverse biological specimens collected during scientific trips and field surveys across various governorates of the country.<\/p>\n
The Head of the Scientific Affairs Department emphasized the importance of monitoring research centers’ work, developing scientific committees, and fostering cooperation with relevant entities whose expertise aligns with the Center’s. He also stressed the need to provide support and assistance to the Center’s administration, faculty, and staff.<\/p>\n
