The agricultural committee, represented by Senior Agricultural Engineer Inas Abdul Khalifa, collaborated with the Center\u2019s library to directly combat termite infestations throughout the main building\u2019s corridors, facilities, and the library itself.
\nThe campaign included a thorough field survey to identify potential infestation hotspots and the use of modern techniques and environmentally approved materials to inject concrete pillars and wooden flooring. Additionally, a protective barrier was established around the building’s perimeter to prevent future termite intrusion.
\nKey recommendations resulting from the campaign included:
\n* Inspection and Assessment: Examining wooden components, archives, and suspended ceilings to directly detect termite tunnels.
\n* Preventive Chemical Treatment: Using long-lasting, public-health-safe pesticides to treat the soil and foundations.
\n* Securing Documents and Records: Implementing specific measures to protect printed records and government archives from future damage. This step is part of the comprehensive periodic maintenance program adopted by the administration to create a safe and sustainable work environment and to safeguard public funds by directly addressing risks that could compromise the building’s structural integrity.
