{"id":563,"date":"2024-01-25T07:03:59","date_gmt":"2024-01-25T07:03:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.nhm.uobaghdad.edu.iq\/?p=563"},"modified":"2024-01-25T07:03:59","modified_gmt":"2024-01-25T07:03:59","slug":"gene-mutation-and-evolution","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/en.nhm.uobaghdad.edu.iq\/?p=563","title":{"rendered":"GENE MUTATION AND EVOLUTION"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Amidst a series of scientific activities held at our center, facilitated by the ongoing support and guidance of its administration, a workshop titled &#8220;GENE MUTATION AND EVOLUTION&#8221; was presented on Sunday, January 21, 2024, by Assistant lecturer Maryam Majid Muhammad Ali under the auspices of the Continuing Education Unit, chaired bylecturer Muhammad Enad Ghazaun. This presentation explored the intertwined role of genetic and cellular mechanisms in shaping diversity within living organisms. It highlighted the significance of chromosomal complement, stressing that deviations during nuclear division, often triggered by specific chemical or physical factors, can lead to chromosomal abnormalities or mutations. These mutagenic events were recognized as critical contributors to the evolutionary process.<\/p>\n<p>However, the workshop primarily aimed to dispel the misconception of evolution as solely driven by random mutations. Instead, it emphasized the central role of adaptation, framing evolution as the intricate dance between an organism&#8217;s genetic makeup and the ecological pressures of its environment. This perspective aligns with the notion that the essence of evolution lies in adaptive pre-disposition, rather than haphazard mutation.<\/p>\n<p>In conclusion, we, at Center, remain committed to serving society, science, and knowledge through such insightful dialogues that challenge misconceptions and pave the way for a deeper understanding of the biological world.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Amidst a series of scientific activities held at our center, facilitated by the ongoing support and guidance of its administration, &#8230;
