A workshop titled “The Role of Social Media in Reducing Violence against Women” was held at our center on April 1st, 2024. The event, organized by the Women’s Affairs Committee and the committee for workshops and seminars, addressed the complex relationship between social media and violence against women.<\/p>\n
The workshop acknowledged the potential for social media to perpetuate violence. A 2018 Amnesty International report, was cited as an example of how these platforms can fail to protect women from online abuse.<\/p>\n
However, the workshop also highlighted the power of social media as a tool for positive change. Social media campaigns can raise awareness and encourage discussions about ending violence against women.<\/p>\n
The key takeaway focused on the importance of targeted messaging. Different age groups consume social media differently. Children are most influenced by their parents and educational media. Teenagers gravitate towards talk shows and short videos. Young adults seek content related to emotional relationships. By tailoring messaging to these preferences, social media campaigns can be more effective.<\/p>\n
