On Tuesday, September 22, 2026, the Natural History Research Center and Museum at the University of Baghdad organized a workshop titled “Strategies for Promoting a Positive Culture for Women and Their Effective Role.” The event was organized by the Center’s Women’s Affairs Committee and moderated by Assistant Lecturer Khalida Ibrahim Hassoun. It featured presentations by Assistant Lecturer Sarah Jamal Jalil and Assistant Professor Dr. Zainab Alwan Makkawi. The Pioneer Cancer Research Center also participated, with Assistant Professor Dr. Kawakib Najm al-Din Abdullah in attendance.
The workshop focused on creating a social culture that encourages ideas and behaviors that foster growth, adaptability to challenges, and a focus on strengths, learning, and development. This approach aims to build a supportive environment based on respect and cooperation.
The objectives of the workshop included reinforcing the idea of a positive culture among women, enhancing self-confidence and appreciation of personal capabilities, developing communication and stress-management skills, and encouraging active participation within families, workplaces, and society as a whole.
A key recommendation from the workshop was that an effective woman begins by believing in her capacity for growth. By transforming this belief into skills and positive practices, she can make a significant impact that contributes to balance and sustainable development.
This initiative supports Sustainable Development Goals 4 (Quality Education), 5 (Gender Equality), and 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
We wish everyone success in serving both society and the scientific community.
