The Natural History Research Center and Museum, continuing its series of scientific activities with the support of its Director, Assistant Professor Dr. Hana Hani Al-Saffar, announced the participation of Assistant Lecturer Noor Hussein Yousif, the Center’s Website Manager, in a recent course. Held by the Center for Continuing Education at the University of Baghdad from April 20th to 24th, 2025, the course was titled “User Experience Design (UX/UI) Course for Academic Websites.”
Aligning with the objectives of Environment and Sustainability – Good Education, this course focused on equipping participants with the skills to design and implement innovative and professional academic websites. Key areas of focus included enhancing the reading experience through careful font selection, spacing, and the effective use of lists and bullet points. Participants also learned to adjust color contrast to meet accessibility standards, improve website navigation and ease of use, and design academic websites with responsive layouts.
The course concluded with several important recommendations:
Clearly understand and apply the distinct principles of UI (User Interface) and UX (User Experience) to the context of academic websites.
Analyze and design enhanced user experiences specifically tailored for college and university websites.
Implement effective design principles such as contrast, hierarchy, and white space to optimize the website interface.
Recognize and avoid prevalent user interface design errors, such as the use of illegible fonts or unsuitable color palettes.
Integrate microinteractions strategically to enhance content engagement without compromising website performance.
