The Natural History Research Center and Museum at the University of Baghdad organized a scientific field trip to Al-Zawraa Park and Gardens on Monday, February 23, 2026. The trip was conducted by a research team comprised of Assistant Lecturer Maryam Majid and Assistant Lecturer Zainab Ghazi.

The field trip aimed to collect field samples from the animals in Al-Zawraa Park’s zoo to fulfill the requirements of scientific research. It also included studying the types of parasites affecting animals, with a focus on ruminants, and working to find potential treatment solutions using plant extracts. Furthermore, the trip aimed to diagnose illnesses and contribute to the treatment of infected animals.

The study recommends the necessity of conducting regular field and veterinary examinations of the animals in Al-Zawraa Park to detect diseases and parasites early and prevent their spread among the animals. These measures also contribute to the preservation of animal species, especially native Iraqi species, and ensure their protection and sustainability in the future.

We wish everyone success in serving the community, science, and knowledge.
