As part of efforts to develop the infrastructure of the Natural History Research Center and Museum—and with the support and guidance of the President of the University of Baghdad, Prof. Dr. Alaa Abdul-Hassan Atiya Al-Zughaibi—a team from the University of Baghdad’s Construction and Projects Department, led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Basim Abdul-Razzaq Rashid, visited the facility on Thursday, September 24, 2026.
Prof. Dr. Hanaa Hani Abdul-Hussein Al-Saffar, Director of the Natural History Research Center and Museum, welcomed the engineering team, accompanied by the Head of the Botany and Environment Department, Prof. Dr. Khansaa Rashid Majeed. The visit included a tour of the museum’s exhibition hall to assess renovation needs—specifically regarding display environments and presentation methods—as well as visits to the scientific departments and the center’s library.
The engineering team conducted a field tour of the center’s facilities to identify the technical and engineering requirements for developing and renovating the museum building. They assessed key obstacles and determined immediate solutions to overcome challenges, ensuring an accelerated work pace and the efficient completion of development projects.
This activity aligns with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): Goal 4 (Quality Education), Goal 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), Goal 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), and Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
