The Natural History Research Center and Museum at the University of Baghdad organized an event to commemorate October 3, the day Iraq declared its independence from the British Mandate and joined the League of Nations in 1932 (Iraqi National Day). All faculty and staff at the center celebrated the event on Sunday, October 4, 2025.
This day of each year is a significant historical milestone in the memory of every Iraqi, as it is the day Iraq chose to celebrate its National Day. This occasion is not just an official holiday; it is a symbol of a long history of struggle to build an independent and sovereign state.
Iraqi National Day remains an occasion to embody the national spirit and a call for joint action to build a secure and stable Iraq, and to pay tribute and eternal remembrance to the martyrs of Iraq who sacrificed their lives for the homeland.
