Under the guidance of its director, Prof. Dr. Harith Saeed Al-Ward, the Natural History Research Center and Museum at the University of Baghdad conducted an awareness campaign on Thursday, October 15, 2026, by distributing posters titled “Through Knowledge, We Confront Alien Phenomena and Protect the Future of Society.” This initiative is part of the University of Baghdad’s broader strategy to combat corruption. Participants in the campaign included Assistant Professor Dr. Zainab Alwan Makawi, Assistant Lecturer Khalida Ibrahim Hassoun, and Assistant Biologist Noor Ali Hasni.
The activity aims to shed light on “alien phenomena”—harmful, extraneous behaviors—that negatively impact society. It seeks to raise awareness about the risks posed by these phenomena and explore ways to mitigate them through scientific knowledge and community education. The initiative is significant for promoting ethical values, fostering a culture of integrity and responsibility, and combating corruption in all its forms. Furthermore, it encourages scientific research and the use of technology and public awareness campaigns to address negative behaviors. Ultimately, it contributes to building a more conscious and secure society, capable of facing challenges and protecting its members. Through knowledge and awareness, we can create a better future for our society.
Key recommendations highlighted by this activity include:
Raising awareness about the dangers of alien phenomena; promoting ethical values and social responsibility; supporting scientific research to curb negative behaviors; leveraging technology for awareness-raising and confrontation; and, ultimately, protecting society to build a safer future. This activity contributes to the fourth Sustainable Development Goal (Quality Education), the eleventh (Sustainable Cities and Communities), and the seventeenth (Partnerships for the Goals).
