On Sunday, October 18, 2026, an expanded meeting was held for the editorial boards of the journals published by the University of Baghdad. The meeting was attended by Dr. Hind Diaa Hadi, Assistant Professor and Editor-in-Chief of the *Bulletin of the Iraq Natural History Museum*, as part of the ongoing efforts to advance academic scientific journals and improve the quality of scientific publishing.

The gathering included the University of Baghdad’s Assistant President for Scientific Affairs and experts in scientific publishing from Cairo University. The discussions focused on sharing expertise and best practices for managing peer-reviewed journals, as well as reviewing the latest requirements for rigorous publishing and the standards for quality and transparency in editorial practices.

Participants explored ways to enhance the management of scientific journals, update procedures for the submission, evaluation, and publication of research, and improve the quality of peer review in line with internationally recognized standards. These initiatives aim to increase the chances of national journals being indexed in global databases—most notably Scopus—thereby strengthening their scientific and academic standing both regionally and internationally.

This initiative aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically Goal 4 (Quality Education) and Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
