The University of Baghdad/Department of Media and Government Communication, in cooperation with the National Security Service, organized a workshop on “Cybersecurity Data Protection” on Sunday, October 12, 2025. With the support and guidance of the Director of the Natural History Research Center and Museum, Assistant Professor Dr. Hanaa Hani Al-Saffar, the Head of the Botany and Environment Department, Assistant Professor Dr. Khansaa Rashid Majeed, and the Head of Media and Government Communication, Assistant Lecturer Noor Hussein Yousef, participated in the workshop. The workshop aimed to define cybersecurity as the field of protecting devices, networks, systems, and data from cyberattacks, unauthorized access, and digital corruption. It applies a set of procedures, techniques, and policies to maintain the confidentiality, availability, and integrity of information, protecting both information and users from various cyber risks posed by unauthorized programs.
The most important outcomes of this workshop included:
1- Raising awareness among employees about best practices in cybersecurity through training courses, with an emphasis on employees knowing how to identify and delete suspicious emails.
2- Implement security policies and cybersecurity requirements to protect email and websites, and establish clear guidelines regarding the use of removable devices.
3- Manage risks by implementing security solutions such as firewalls and intrusion prevention, and detection systems.
4- Manage human risks by investing in awareness and education about cybersecurity risks.
