The Natural History Research Center and Museum at the University of Baghdad organized a field trip to Al-Dujail District in Salah al-Din Governorate on Saturday, June 20, 2026, to collect plant and animal samples. Dr. Lubna Majeed Hameed and Assistant Lecturer Maab Riyadh Sajit led the trip.

The environmental field trip aimed to conduct research surveys to assess biodiversity and collect biological samples to provide applied data that would serve the requirements of the research plan and support laboratory experiments. Simultaneously, the trip included monitoring and observing diseases affecting the vegetation in the area.

The field trip resulted in a scientific recommendation to intensify future exploratory trips to cover the entire Al-Dujail District, given its unique environmental characteristics and the fact that agricultural lands and sustainable orchards constitute approximately 70% of its total area. The recommendation also emphasized the need to launch community awareness campaigns to educate residents and encourage them to protect living organisms and safeguard this remarkable biodiversity from environmental degradation. This activity contributes to Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education) and Goal 15 (Life on Land).

We wish everyone success in serving the community, science, and knowledge.
