As part of ongoing scientific activities at our center, and with the support of Assistant Professor Dr. Hana Hani Al-Saffar, a research team from the University of Baghdad’s Natural History Research Center and Museum embarked on a field trip to Karbala Governorate on Monday, April 29, 2024.
The team, comprised of specialists from the center’s Botany and Environment Department and Fish Department, visited key locations including Lake Al-Razzaza, Al-Tar Caves, Al-Ukhaysar Fort, the Church of… Al-Uqaysar, and Ain Tamr. Their goal was to collect a diverse range of biological samples – invertebrates, fish, and natural plants – reflecting the region’s unique biodiversity.
These collected specimens will contribute towards ongoing research projects and enrich the Iraqi collection of animal and plant life. This data will ultimately be used to create a comprehensive database on Iraqi biodiversity.
The field survey proved to be a fruitful collaboration, advancing scientific knowledge and understanding.
We wish everyone continued success in serving society, science, and knowledge.
