On July 30, 2024, our center hosted a workshop titled “Fish Diversity in Central Iraq.” Organized by the workshop committee led by lecturer Muhammad Enad Ghazaun, under the guidance of Assistant Professor Dr. Hana Hani Al-Saffar, the event featured a presentation by lecturer Dr. Hind Dhia Hadi.
The workshop highlighted the critical role of morphology in fish taxonomy, despite advancements in behavioral, genetic, and ecological studies. Fish species are primarily classified based on pigmentation, shape, fin structure, and other external features.
