On July 30, 2024, our center hosted a workshop focusing on the fascinating world of symbiotic relationships among coral reef fish. Organized by the workshop committee led by lecturer Muhammad Enad Ghazaun, under the guidance of Assistant Prof. Dr. Hana Hani Al-Saffar, the event featured a presentation by Dr. Hind Dhia Hadi.
The workshop explored various forms of biological interactions between different marine organisms, including mutualism, commensalism, and parasitism. Participants learned about obligate and facultative symbiosis, as well as the distinction between endosymbiosis and endosymbiosis. A particular emphasis was placed on cleaning symbiosis, a mutually beneficial relationship where smaller fish remove parasites from larger ones.
We commend our center for its commitment to advancing knowledge in marine biology and ecology.
