The Development and Sustainability Team at the University of Baghdad organized a series of events to commemorate World Earth Day on Wednesday, April 21, 2026. With the support and guidance of the Director of the Natural History Research Center and Museum at the University of Baghdad, Assistant Lecturer Sarah Jamal Jalil from the Botany and Environment Department participated in the scientific and environmental activities by creating an awareness poster for Earth Day, one of the most important global events dedicated to environmental conservation and promoting environmental awareness. The poster presented the most significant contemporary environmental challenges, emphasizing the role of individuals and society in protecting natural resources and reducing pollution. This participation was part of our support for academic initiatives that contribute to spreading environmental awareness both on and off campus.
This participation aimed to enhance environmental awareness among students and the community, highlight the importance of maintaining ecological balance, and connect scientific concepts with practical applications that contribute to achieving sustainable development. It also sought to encourage positive environmental behaviors and stimulate collective action to contribute to building a healthy and safe environment for future generations. This activity achieves Goal 4: Quality Education, Goal 15: Life on Earth, and Goal 17: Companies for the Goals, as part of the Sustainable Development Goals activities. We wish all the instructors at our center success and good fortune.
