On Thursday, October 22, 2026, instructors and employees from the Natural History Research Center and Museum at the University of Baghdad staged a protest to voice their disapproval of the ruling that prohibits the hijab in educational settings in the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Protesters said the movement aims to uphold personal and religious liberties, asserting women’s right to practice their faith freely and with dignity. They also urged greater tolerance, peaceful coexistence, and appreciation for religious and cultural diversity in academic environments.
