This workshop, held at our center, aimed to illuminate the crucial role Iraqi women play in upholding and preserving human rights within their communities. Led by Assist. lecturer Noor Hussein Yousif, Assist. lecturer Heba Muhammad Jihad, and Ms. Batoul Abdul Redha Karim Al-Wazzan, the session focused on empowering women through knowledge and understanding of their legal rights.
Key Areas of Focus:
Understanding Iraqi Law: Participants gained valuable insights into Iraqi legal frameworks and their relation to human rights.
Women’s Rights in Focus: The workshop specifically explored the rights guaranteed to women within Iraqi law, recognizing their integral role in society.
Individual Empowerment: Participants honed their knowledge of fundamental human rights enshrined in Iraqi law, learning how to safeguard these rights and address potential legal concerns related to women’s rights.
A Call to Action:
The workshop presented a set of impactful recommendations:
Parliamentary Responsibility: Urging the Human Rights Committee of the Iraqi Parliament to closely monitor the human rights situation, particularly for women and children, aligning with calls from local and international feminist organizations.
Women in Governance: Stressing the need to empower women within all governmental ministries, tackling issues of injustice and oppression faced by Iraqi women.
Human Rights Education: Advocating for comprehensive education and awareness regarding human rights in Iraq, promoting their preservation and advancement.
By equipping women with knowledge of their rights and fostering open dialogue, this workshop paved the way for a more equitable and empowered future for all Iraqis.
