Our research center recently held a workshop titled “Plant Diversity and its Impact on the Environment.” The workshop was prepared by Assistant Professor Dr. Khansa Rashid Majeed and Assistant Lecturer Sarah Jamal Jalil from the Department of Plant and Environment.
The lecture focused on the importance of plant life for a healthy environment. Here are some key takeaways:
Vegetation cover is the foundation of the food chain. Plants provide the base for all living organisms.
Plants combat climate change. Through photosynthesis, plants absorb carbon dioxide, a greenhouse gas, and release oxygen, which is essential for life.
Vegetation filters the air. Plants help remove dust and other harmful particles from the atmosphere.
This workshop coincided with National Afforestation Day, an initiative that promotes environmental preservation, increased vegetation cover, and a cleaner atmosphere.
We at the center are committed to serving society, science, and knowledge through such educational activities.
