A research team from the University of Baghdad’s Natural History Research Center and Museum, led by Professor Dr. Afkar Muslim Hadi, embarked on a field trip to Adhamiya’s Al-Mashatel Street on Thursday, April 25th, 2024. This trip, conducted with the support of Assistant Professor Dr. Hana Hani Al-Saffar, aligns with our center’s ongoing scientific activities.
The team, which included Dr. Zainab Alwan Makkawi and Ms. Khalida Ibrahim Hassoun, aimed to document the diverse wildlife of the area. Their focus was on vertebrates, fish, and natural plants, all contributing to Adhamiya’s unique biodiversity.
The primary objective of the trip was to collect biological samples to support ongoing research projects. These samples will also contribute to enriching the Iraqi collection of animal and plant specimens. Ultimately, the data gathered will be used to create a comprehensive database on Iraqi biodiversity.
The field survey proved to be a fruitful collaborative effort, furthering scientific knowledge and understanding.
We extend our best wishes to all who contribute to serving society, science, and knowledge.
